Isolation III- Blue lino print of a woman in her room, with phone, wine and book

This print design is called 'Isolation III’ and was inspired by the Covid-19 third lockdown and the persistent isolations. It is one of several designs I made that depict people sitting at home alone. 

It depicts a nude female figure relaxing in her home. The emptiness of her figure contrasts with the geometric design of the wall behind and the lines of the books. As with most of my drawings, I have tried to draw a realistic rather than "idealised" body. This drawing also lends itself to surrealism with the strange perspective. 

The figure has been reading but predictably was distracted by the lure of her phone. The image hints at the battle to have a healthy relationship with technology when it is the only contact with friends and our past lives during isolation. 

My prints are all unique designs, hand carved and printed individually using nineteenth century antique printing presses. I use the highest quality oil based inks and heavyweight paper to ensure that the designs really pop. These colourful prints are all one of a kind and can never be exactly reproduced.
