Abandoned Church, accompanied by another photographer with a love of abandoned places.

All abandoned places are eerie but the desecration of a ‘holy place’, even to an aetheist, seems unnatural. The building had been left for so long that it was possible to see the skeleton of the roof and the floor had fallen through in places due to damp. There were bits of old wood, piles of bricks and tyres, buddleias growing out of walls, a very broken piano and the skateboard of another kid who’d beaten us to explore this site. The rooms were seemingly colour coded, with peeling paint of different colours clinging to the walls. My favourite part of the whole building was in the blue room. The fading wall which in its former glory would have been imposing, read: ‘The Lord in His Holy Temple, The Sole Spiritual Head, Leader Oo Obu’.
